Juan Compean studied fine art at Columbia College. He has exhibited extensively thoughout Chicago at places like Taller Mestizarte and Café Jumping Bean. His work has been published in Polvo Magazine and Hasta Cuando?, a local magazine dealing with art and politics. He is also a musician and tours with his hardcore-punk band I-ATTACK and has collaborated In the past with poets Brenda Cardenas and Aidee Rodriguez to do spoken word/music performances as the name Sonido Inkieto.

this month's artist: Hannelore Lott
Hannelore Lott is an active artist and performer, currently
living in Chicago. She has exhibited around Europe, in New York
and Chicago.
In Europe, she worked as an actor, dancer, scene-designer, and puppeteer.
She has been doing several commissioned paintings, which are placed in
Germany, France, Turkey and Chicago. In 1998 she founded the “How” group,
organizing several performances, workshops and group exhibitions, supporting
young emerging Romanian artists. The nonprofit association continues
to exist in Timisoara Romania as “H.Arta” alternative art
gallery. Hannelore also did several site-specific installations and participated
at international alternative art festivals. Born in Timisoara, Romania,
1976, she graduated in Fine Arts in 2000, after which she moved to Chicago.
Since then she has continued to explore the role of art in social and
spiritual change.
